Small Cell Lung Cancer
Stages
Once the cancer is found in
your lung, it is important for your oncologist to determine its stage. This is necessary in the choice of
treatment; it helps your doctor to determine the most appropriate treatment. The stage of a small cell lung
cancer is measured from the size of the tumor and its extension into your body. Unlike many cancers, small cell
lung cancer has two stages:
- Limited
- the
cancer is confined to one lung and its nearby lymph nodes.
- Extensive
- the
cancer has affected both lungs, distant lymph nodes or/and organs: liver, brain,
etc.
