Juice Fasting as an
Alternative Cancer Treatment
Juice fasting is all over the
internet as an alternative cancer
treatment. It is believed that the therapy not only boosts the immune system to attack the cancer but
also cleanses the body from toxins which the cancel cells need to reproduce. The juice usually includes
cruciferous vegetables, carrot, beet, and other cancer fighting plants to strengthen and support the body's
immune system. Some people use just one vegetable or fruit.
But although the
method can be a powerful way to fight cancer is it really enough to reverse a well established malignant
Fasting is undoubtedly a progressive and profound body detoxification. During the process, the body does not receive enough protein and fats it needs to function properly, thus it turns to
its stored resources (excess fats, carbohydrates and sugars) to produce energy. In addition, it
draws toxins, fats, uric acid and other junks stored for years, which can be the cause of the cancer (and many other diseases).
Fasting creates a situation of stress which causes the organism to launch self-regulatory mechanisms to face the
situation. The body adapts to the environment deprived of food and activates its healing powers, which in turn boosts the immune system, triggers
anti-inflammatory effects, helps weight loss, clears the skin, reverses pre-mature aging, improves brain function,
improves insulin sensitivity, speeds up metabolism, improves eating patterns…
As more and more people are becoming aware of the uselessness of drugs in curing
cancer and their damaging effects in the body, a great majority of patients all over the world turn to
alternative cancer treatment
to fight the disease. In certain countries, fasting is prescribed by some doctors and surgeons in order to help the patients to lose weight before surgery or treat certain diseases.
is in some countries become a healing method for not only cancer but many other medical condition as well. For
instance, fasting is widespread in Germany, Switzerland and Russia. In Germany it is believed that up to 20% of the population reported having been fasted for between 1 and 3 weeks. In fact, Fasting therapy is supported by Social Security in Germany and Russia. In the USA, is not supported by social security or the
Fasting as an Alternative Cancer Treatment
Studies on animals have shown that ‘safe’ fasting could slow the development of certain types of cancer. In some countries like the United States or Russia, it has become a new alternative cancer treatment. One of the health professionals who have done some research on cancer and fasting is
Dr. Valter Longo; he is an American biologist, Professor
in Biological Science, Director of the
Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California (USC); he has
done extensive testing on the association of fasting with chemotherapy.
The results are spectacular. But when the idea of using fasting to treat
A little history of
Fasting as an alternative cancer treatment
In 1924, a German biochemist named Otto Heinrich Warburg hypothesized that cancer was a mitochondrial dysfunction that changes the way cells use energy (high glycolysis followed by Lactic acid fermentation) which then makes them able to multiply very quickly and without control. In a simple and common language, cancer cells attract the sugar in order for them to use and multiply. Scientist called this effect the "Warburg effect". Otto Warburg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology in 1931.
Thereafter, all the research has shown that cancer cells had a particular and abnormal attraction for glucose. Since glucose is provided to the body by certain foods (cereals, fruits, vegetables, sweet products), deprived the cancer cells from those foods by fasting will
ultimately stop their reproduction, thus their death. That is how the idea of fasting appeared in the natural medicine as an alternative cancer
treatment. Other scientists advance the theory that an acid-base imbalance is in the occurrence of cancer, while it is actually just a consequence of this new abnormal energy metabolism.
Recent Studies and
Ever since, many studies
have conducted in the beneficial effects of fasting on treating cancer. Each study ends up with a conclusion that it can really
help. A very recent study has shown that depriving cancer cells of glucose by fasting caused the regression of the tumor by suicide of the diseased cells. Juice fasting can help fight cancer of different types, the
certainly cancer patients must be
careful when using juice fasting as an alternative cancer treatment. An abnormal fasting promotes loss of muscle mass, which will then weaken the immune system, decreasing the natural defenses of the body against the tumor. In addition, the lack of dietary intake of protein, minerals and vitamins will bring down the production of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant produced in the body.
Does Fasting really Work in reversing
The answer to
this question varies from one patient to another. Some cancer patients try it unsuccessfully, while others claim
to become cancer free using juice fasting. For instance, Author Ann Cameron cured her stage 4 cancer by
juicing 5 lbs of carrots per
day. She stated
“I believe from
personal experience that carrots juice can cure cancer–and rapidly, without chemotherapy, radiation, or other
dietary changes. I think carrots are worth a try for nearly everyone diagnosed with cancer, because the results
show up very fast.”
