Bone Cancer Survival Rates  

Unlike many other types of cancer, bone cancer prognosis is not alarming. However, your chance of surviving or healing depends on many factors: your general health, type of bone cancer, size of the tumor, and organs affected if the cancer has spread.  

 

In general, the overall 5-year relative bone cancer survival rate is about 70 percent. This statistic however, varies by sex and race: 

 

  • Caucasian women reach the highest rate, 72.1% 
  • African-American men come in second place with a percentage of 72.1 
  • African-American women have a 68.4% survival rate 
  • And Caucasian men have the lowest survival rate, 67.5%.
